PRESENTATION
The Council of Madrid is organising the second edition
of the International Congress on Sports and Municipality,
a forum for dissemination, study and promotion of sports, which
this year will revolve around Olympic sports, with special emphasis
on the direction to be taken by a city for organising some Olympic
Games.
Its expectations, the materialisation in an Olympic project and
the legacy that will be given to the city on the conclusion of this
great sporting event, make up a historical, social and economic
process, which is the main object to be analysed at this Congress.
This second meeting is convened for the 11th, 12th and
13th of June, the month when there is a concentration of
interesting events for Madrid, such as the holding of the World
Olympic Day and the selection of the cities that will be candidates
for the organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016,
also taking into account the attendance of Spanish sportsmen and
women at the next Games in Beijing.
